Bye Bye Favre

Favre informs Jets that he’s retiring
By: Jay Glazer
Brett Favre has announced his retirement from the NY Jets after 18 seasons in the league. He has set a lot of records throughout his football career, the 18 seasons being one of them. We will have to see if he is actually going to retire this time or not. I think last year he just used it as a publicity act to get more rating. I do agree that he is one of the best QB in the league, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying that he is the best ever. People argue well just look at the stats, but yea when you have played for 18 you are going to have a lot of the records, if I am not mistaking he has every record for interceptions: most thrown in a game, season, and career.
I think he is going to be done for good now. I really think he should have retired about 4 years ago, but the media kept pushing and pushing and saying that he is the best and he still has it he can still play. I think that got to his head and he thinks he can play as good as he used to but really cannot compete with the athletes today.
Some people say that this year’s season with the Jets was one of his Best, I really don’t think so, when I watched the games I thought he was struggling getting down the field, just didn’t feel all that comfortable. But, what do I know.
In the long run he had some really good years and some not so hot. The thing that I think he was looking for was one more super bowl attempt. He came close a couple years ago and that is why I think that encouraged him to keep playing. It is time to hang the towel up and move on Brett.

  1. I have to agree with you. It's time Brett retired. But, I haven't heard as much this year, yet, about retiring. Last year it was the biggest headline and was always in the news.

I have to think that he loves the game so much that he couldn't give it up. It was easy to say he was retiring last year, but when he actually gave it more thought, he couldn't do it.

You may be right that it was a big publicity stunt too. It sure did work!

  2. I agree with you that Brett Favre's career should be over. For like the last three season's it seems that Favre tells the media he doesn't know if he is going to retire or come back, then ends up coming back every year. He even said he retired at least one time and then changed his mind when the season rolled around. I feel that Favre just likes the attention and that he knows that is a great way to get it. His last year with the Packers was a good one to go out on, he shouldn't have came back this last year anyway I don't think.

  3. How many times has he "retired" anyways. I'm going to have to hope that this time it is true. He's just getting too old for that contact sport stuff. Didn't football ruin his marriage too? I am not for sure, but if I recall correctly it did. He must really just love the limelight. I guess good for him that he is adored by so many, but really enough is enough just be done.
